Canon EOS-1 HS

1989

EOS-1 HS

The EOS-1 was Canon’s top-of-the-line AF body released in September of 1989. Built for durability, the camera also made use of a new cross-type BASIS AF sensor. This new AF sensor made focusing on subjects with horizontal lines much easier to acquire. According to Canon, it was also 4x more sensitive than the one found in the original EOS 650 from just two years before.

The camera was available in two configurations – with, or without the Power Drive Booster E-1. If equipped with the booster, the camera was known as the HS version (for High Speed, I’m assuming).
